3 To tidy up the bottom and give an elegant shape to the jug, place it upside down on the wheel head and use your turning tools to create a lovely curve.

ALTERNATIVE TOOL

For a different look, try a wiggle wire. With the same technique, it creates a very different effect. You can either draw the tool down the pot in straight lines to create grooves or, as I’ve done here, move the wire from side to side.

FORMING THE LIP

When positioning the lip, think about where your handle will be. The two will need to be opposite each other, so form your lip opposite the flat edge of a facet to give you room to place the handle.
