Phoenix Motor Works

The "Hudlass" cars were produced approximately between 1897 and 1902 by the British company "Phoenix Motor Works". In 1894 Felix Hudlass (1874-1965) inherited some money from his father and invested in a small workshop in Southport, Lancashire, which he called "Phoenix Motor Works". There he began to build a prototype car, equipped with a vertical 2-cylinder engine, mounted on the front, which was very unusual for his time. Less the body, the car was built entirely by Hudlass, so it took a long time to finish it.
