You still want to play. So you sign with a team in Italy. You pack your things and board a flight.

Life overseas is a big adjustment. You work on your Italian, but you’re not very good. At first, you feel completely out of place. But once you hit the court with your team, you’re comfortable. Most of your teammates speak some English. And one of your teammates, Aliyah, is from Ohio.

Italy never quite feels like home. But you make it work. Your combination of strength and quickness makes you a nearly unstoppable force in the Italian league. You lead your team to the finals in your first year. In your second, your team wins the championship, and you’re the league’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).
