Bulgarian Chicken curry is very spicy with thick gravy. It goes well with tortillas, any kind of bread or even rice.
Cooking Time: 30 minutes
Serves: 4
Ingredients:
2 lb. chicken, with skin and bones, cut into medium pieces
2 cups water
2 red chilies, halved
2 green chilies, halved
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp turmeric
1 tsp cumin
salt to taste
1 tsp ginger powder
1 tsp garlic powder
2 onions, diced
½ tsp clove powder
¼ tsp cinnamon powder
2 tbsp oil
Instructions:
1. First, in a large pot, add the oil and fry the onion for 1 minute.
2. Add the turmeric, cumin, garlic, ginger, paprika, clove and cinnamon. Add 2 tbsp of water and cover with a lid. Cook for 3 minutes of medium heat.
3. Add the chicken pieces and stir well. Add the salt and cook for 10 minutes on medium low heat.
4. Stir once and then pour in the water. Cook on high heat for 10 minutes.
5. Add the green and red chilies and cook for 5 minutes. Serve hot.
