If Jenny catches Tom kissing (ugh) Natasha, turn to the purse on page 90.

If Natasha unmasks Jenny as her doppelganger Jennie, turn to the sunglasses on page 100.

Another night at Bonnie’s, another night of Jenny nursing a Moscow Mule. All the regulars are there, a group she considers herself a part of. She has another three years, max, before her frequent, habitual patronage of this establishment becomes something of a problem, but for now she’s safe. Before Jenny could ponder this too deeply, however, Tom is by her side, picking the maraschino cherry out of her drink and biting the fruit off its stem.

“Excuse me, that was extremely rude!” Jenny informs him as he pulls up a stool next to her.

“Hey, if you want something, you gotta go for it,” he tells her before ordering his own Moscow Mule.

“You know, you’re so right,” she says picking the cherry out of the drink freshly placed in front of Tom, and putting it between her teeth, before kissing Tom square on the mouth.

“Wow,” he says, as they break apart.

“I know, right?” Jenny replies, “I think Dave caught the whole thing,” nodding her head toward the back of the bar, where Dave is, indeed, standing and watching them intently.

“I think he’s coming over! Pretend like you enjoyed that,” Jenny says quickly. Tom nods slowly, pretending like he has to pretend. A lot of layers here.

“Fancy seeing you guys here!” Dave remarks, his voice strained, as though he has something caught in the back of his throat.

“Well, you know this is my favorite bar,” Jenny tells him.

“Yeah, we come here all the time,” Tom adds, putting his hand on Jenny’s knee. If he’s going to do this, he might as well enjoy watching Dave squirm like a raver waiting for the beat to drop.

“Jenny, can I talk to you for a second?” Dave asks. “Alone.” He gives Tom a withering look and Jenny has to bite her lip to keep from smiling.

“I’ll be waiting,” Tom says, before catching Jenny’s face in another kiss.

Whoa, Tom is a really, really good kisser, Jenny thinks before stopping herself. Keep your eyes on the prize, Jenny. Dave is the guy. It’s Dave, and it’s been Dave all along.

In a small, deserted corner of the bar—one that’s usually occupied by a rowdy birthday party or two college kids sucking face—Dave stares at Jenny intently, steeling himself as he says, “Jenny, I’ve been thinking about you a lot lately, and do you think we could go somewhere and talk more? I know you’re with Tom now, but—”

It takes all the strength Jenny can muster to not burst out and scream “Finally!” or “I’d follow you to the ends of the Earth!” Instead she nods slowly, as if she’s actually taking the time to weigh the meaning of his words.

“Yeah,” she finally says, “I can do that.” And with that, she follows Dave out the side door of Bonnie’s, glancing back at Tom ordering another round of Moscow Mules at the bar.
