on a rock

a plume

in the sky

a wingless bird

who no longer can fly

a cage

that surrounds

a hope

locked within

on a page

thoughts

into form

my friend

and my foe

the promise

and the lie

Shadowspawn

A shadow

on the stage

A formless wraith

in a barren world

Forgotten and lost

in the light of the day

Who once full of joy

with a heart full of love

Took a chance

and let go

Of all that was there

for a chance at a star

But the light of that star

burned icy and dark

And he found he was lost

and chilled to the core

As one by one

pieces flew away

And the castles all built

crumbled away

Leaving crumbs on the table

and something much less

Where the poets had sung

about worse than a curse
