Rnd 1: *K1, p1; rep from * to end.

Rep Rnd 1 for pattern.

4-st Inc

Rnd 1a: Brk1, sl1yo, brkyobrk, work in patt to last 2 sts, brkyobrk, sl1yo—4 sts inc’d.

Rnd 1b: Sl1yo, brp1, sl1yo, p1, sl1yo, work in patt to brkyobrk of last rnd, sl1yo, p1, sl1yo, brp1.

Body

With smallest (cast-on) cir needle, CO 186 (208, 230, 252, 274, 296, 318) sts using Italian tubular or alternate cable method (see Cast-Ons and Bind-Offs for Brioche), beg with k1 (slipknot). Place marker (pm) and join for working in rnds, being careful not to twist sts. Work in k1, p1 rib (see Stitch Guide) for 2 rnds. Change to medium (edging) cir needle. Cont in rib for 4 more rnds. Change to largest (body) cir needle and St st. Knit 4 rnds.

Next rnd: K93 (104, 115, 126, 137, 148, 159) for back, pm for side “seam,” k64 (75, 86, 97, 108, 119, 130), pm and work Rnd 1 of Body Leaf chart over next 25 sts, pm, knit to end. Cont in patts as established until piece measures 5" (12.5 cm) from CO edge.
