Objective

Integrating art, students will compose and decompose plane and solid figures.

Anticipatory Set

Get students’ attention by dressing up as Captain Super Shape. Tape or pin colorful paper shapes on your shirt, and wear a long cape. Place a cone-shaped hat on your head. “Fly” around the room “rescuing” all the shapes found in the classroom. Pick up the rectangular poster board, the spherical ball, the cylinder-shaped soda can, or anything else you can find. Encourage students to help you rescue the shapes!
