For some players Swings and Misses, Fouls, and Balls in Play do not add up to overall Swings. This is because of the rare occasions when a swing results in a Catcher Interference.

Pitcher Analysis

Similar to the Hitter Analysis section, Pitcher Analysis categorizes a pitcher's tendencies. For pitchers, the data includes their number of batters faced and pitches thrown; strikes and balls thrown; groundballs, line drives, and flyballs allowed; percentage of strikes and swinging strike rate; and their frequency in a variety of counts.

The 2014 season provided more evidence of the importance of throwing strikes. There were 13 starters who faced at least 500 batters and threw strikes 61 percent of the time or less. Here is how they fared:
