Andreescu now has them in all sorts of colours, after the manufacturer sent her a supply.
And she wears them no matter what else she’s wearing.
If it’s a long-sleeved pullover, she often wears it over the sleeve.
If she has some taping on the arm, as has been the case at times this season, she just slips it on right over the tape.
The only question left unanswered: what does the tan line look like?
5. Pain in Paris, Triumph in Toronto
In the wake of the injury-scarred exit in Miami, it was a foregone conclusion that Bianca Andreescu would withdraw from a planned participation in the Volvo Open, a Premier-level WTA tournament in picturesque Charleston, South Carolina, slated for early April.
But the Canadian who was always so proud to play for her country also had to pull out of a crucial Fed Cup tie against the Czech Republic in Prostejov later in the month.
Andreescu had won both her singles matches to clinch a playoff tie against the Netherlands in February. That victory earned Canada the right to play in April for a promotion into Group I, composed of the top eight nations in women’s tennis.
The previous year against Ukraine in Montreal, she had teamed up with Gabriela Dabrowski in doubles to clinch the victory that kept Canada in Group II, in position to compete for the top group in 2019.
In that tie against Ukraine, Andreescu had been pressed into emergency service on the first day when teammate Françoise Abanda took a spill in her pre-match warmup and hit her head—hard—on the court.
Andreescu already had enjoyed a full breakfast. She was ready to settle in for the day and cheer on her teammates when she got the 11th-hour call.
