Although the modeling of this process of solving proofs is critical and the guided instruction students receive can be used to correct misconceptions and address knowledge gaps, it is the collaborative learning task—in this case, the visual display—that requires students to use what they know.

The idea of a collaborative poster for the geometry class can be modified for different grades and subject areas. For example, a group of 1st graders might use a Venn diagram to identify the similarities and differences between two characters. A group of 6th graders might use a time line to aid their understanding of the various kingdoms and dynasties in Egyptian history. And a group of biology students might use a process chart to organize their understanding of cell division.
