Honey Bee Swarming
Come spring, you will surely experience the swarming of honey bees. Swarming is the cycle when bees migrate with the queen bee in the thousands. They are trying to begin anew and to find a fresh place to create their home,
The beehive is highly organized. Every group of bees has a single job to do. Some bees are workers who have to create the hives, some bees are searching for new nectar sources for new locations, and some bees serve the Queen bee and the Queen bee herself only lays eggs in the hives' cells. The hive is divided into honey and larvae cells. The queen bee goes around the hive, and the worker bees cover the cells with wax to shield the larvae.
Some of the larvae will develop into working bees, and others will grow into, essentially, targets whom will be hunted for and killed by the queen. Just one queen bee can be in the hive. The working bees must try to save the female bees while multiplying; they will do everything possible to prevent the queen from killing all the matured female bees.
One of two things will happen every year in the spring. Either the workers and will attempt to force out the queen bee, or the queen forces out thousands of workers and new queens. This is called swarming, and thus, a community of bees is called a swarm. They try to match the virgin queen and then find a place to construct their hive.
The queen bee flies high when the bees swarm, and a group of bees called drones tries to capture her as the workers pursue. The first drone to catch her mates right then and there and then dies. After this quick exchange, the queen retreats to a safe place and is then surrounded by thousands of her workers who defend her. This may seem very epic and confusing. In many ways it is both. However many resources are available if you have more questions. Do not be afraid to ask.
When you see something on a tree like a hive, hundreds of thousands of worker bees surround the Queen and defend her from possible attacks, while scouts are looking for a suitable new hive. They have no honey to sustain them at this time and are very hungry. Some beekeepers are very good at attracting swarms of bees to their homes, where they develop their honey skills to great success.
If you notice bees in or out of your home, they are not only annoying; they may also be dangerous.
Youâll probably be fine with only one or two bees if they are outside, but if you unexpectedly get a bee infestation, you will have to learn how to effectively eliminate or relocate them. In or out of your home, bee infestations can occur. It should be remembered that not all bees are harmful and aggressive. They won't bother you if you don't bother them.
Here are some of the different kinds of bees that allow you to determine whether you have to kill a hive.
