Chapter 13

Rayvon rested in the same place on the living room floor where he'd sat when his mother left for work. He stared at the door knob while tugging up on his thin sleeveless super hero t-shirt. He covered his nose and mouth with the top part of his t-shirt before the tears came. How he hated the feeling that rambled in his stomach. How he hated feeling the tears roll from his eyes. He tried to stop crying. He could not. He wished the feeling in his stomach would go away. It did not.

Tiredness filled his small body, slightly at first. His eyes closed for a few seconds before opening twice as long as they'd been shut. His eyes closed again. His head bobbed before eventually returning back to its original position. He desperately resisted his sleepy state. He'd given up on the hope that his mother would walk through the front door and relieve the misery he felt from being left all alone. Drowsiness bothered him. Soon it was time to give in. He moved away from the front door. He changed into his pajamas taking extra care of handling his pants and super hero t-shirt. Afterward he crawled into bed and fell into a deep sleep.
