Apply glue stick on the back of the paper and center it on the canvas.

2. Place the paper template(s) and embellishments on the canvas and move them around until the composition pleases you. I’ve added a couple of small butterflies in addition to the calavera. Take a picture to refer to when you have decided on where the items will be placed.

With a glue stick, glue the paper template(s) where you want on the surface of the canvas.

3. With the paper template(s) fully adhered to the canvas, stitch along the outlines using a stem or running stitch.

4. Fill in the tiniest areas on the paper template(s) with satin stitches.
