“Okay, Dan,” you give in. “But let’s hurry.”

You give another kick to the pile of wood, and nothing else comes out, so you pick up a few dry branches.

After about ten minutes, you see Dan is struggling to stay upright. His face is white and he doesn’t look like himself.

“Dan? Are you feeling okay?” you ask.

“I can’t breathe,” he replies with a gasp.

Dan needs medical attention—and fast. You run back to camp as quickly as you can and shout for Rania.

“Dan was bit by a snake! Hurry!”

Rania grabs her medical bag, which has the anti-venom compound in it. You race back to Dan with Rania right behind.

“We need to get this into Dan’s body before the toxins shut down his central nervous system. Every second counts.”

As you help Rania administer the medication, you see Dan’s eyes roll back in his head.

“I think we may be too late,” Rania says. “We need to get Dan out of here, now!”

If Dan dies, your mission will definitely be over. You and Rania each take one of Dan’s arms, but as you carry him through the forest, you soon realize that he’s not with you anymore…
