Once I reached the stage where I knew I needed to stop being dependent on alcohol, likewise I desired to live in a new and better way without alcohol, and I had also made the decision to do whatever it took to find out how, I determined the best starting point was to take a journey back to my earliest memories to see how it may have all started. I already had the basic understanding that I drank alcohol to feel good (or at least improve how I currently felt), and over the years this practice became a deep-rooted habit. It was like a huge noxious weed in my life’s garden that was slowly but surely overpowering and choking out any flowers of happiness and success. Its vine-like foliage had reached into all areas of my life, strangling my desires and the great potential we all have. I figured if I could work out where and why those roots began, I would have my best chance of completely removing the need for this toxic alcohol weed; foliage, stem, roots, and all.

The Alcohol Weed

This weed plant represents your alcohol habit (or any destructive habit, for that matter) and the basic components of it. Like any plant, this alcohol habit weed needs a structure and nourishment to ensure and sustain its survival, growth, and perpetuation. The parts of this weed below the ground are likened to your inner workings, such as your beliefs, desires, and emotions either conscious or subconscious. Everything above the ground is the manifestation or result of what is under the surface and the interactions with your visible physical world.
