Elephants spend much of their time walking from place to place, looking for food and water.

SPEAK LIKE AN ELEPHANT

As herd animals, communication is very important to elephants. When they greet one another, they put their trunks in each other’s mouths, almost like a handshake! They also do this to say “sorry.” A happy elephant will bounce around and swing its trunk.

When an elephant wants to tell another elephant to “back off,” it will charge at the elephant, stop, and stomp. That says it means business. When nervous, elephants might suck on the tip of their trunk, like a baby sucking its thumb.
