“You were right about there being guards here...just a little too right,” I say as we sit down at an empty table, eyeing all the many, many guards in here drinking. There must be a good twenty guards who are flirting with the waitresses with blonde, streaked purple hair and not much clothing. I roll my eyes when one of those women spots us and drifts her eyes over Jonas and Josh. Josh protectively wraps an arm around the back of my chair as the woman comes over, sitting on the edge of the table. I keep my hood up, covering my face and hair, but Jonas and Josh have removed theirs.

“Now what can I get you to drink, my handsome strangers?” she asks.

“What court are you from?” Jonas asks her instead.

“Doesn’t my hair give it away, handsome?” she asks with a flirty laugh, and Jonas smirks. “Or are you teasing me a little?”

“Blue is for Winter, red is for Autumn, and orange is for Summer...so that makes you a Spring Fray,” Jonas says, and the waitress only laughs.

“Of course! Do you want a room to sleep in tonight? I waitress here in the day, and at night, I bartend at the inn next door,” she explains. “I could gladly have a word and get you a big room.”

“We will have three drinks of whatever you would suggest after a long travel from the Autumn court. I will think about the room,” Jonas softly says.

“Coming right up, big man,” she says, sliding off the table and kissing Jonas on the cheek before giggling and running away.

“Someone likes you,” I point out.

“My dragon wants to freeze her to the floor,” Jonas sarcastically grumbles. “My hands have frozen the tops of my trousers in an attempt to keep my dragon under control.”

“So your dragon chooses who you like?” I ask, curious. My wolf doesn’t have that control over me in any regard, though she does trust some people and hate others.

“I trust my dragon more than I trust myself at times, and most dragon shifters feel the same. We know that our dragon is always going to choose a mate who they know will be our equal. They won’t take less than that,” he explains to me. “Sometimes I believe my dragon is far more intelligent than I am.”

“That’s almost romantic,” I say, and Josh’s hand slides onto my shoulder.

“What did I say about the flirting, J?” Josh says, and Jonas smirks as he leans back in his seat.

“I can’t help it if every word I say your girlfriend finds romantic,” he replies, and I grin, trying not to laugh, and as Josh and Jonas continue to argue, I see the door on the side open and shut. I read the sign on the door, which says Steam Room, and smile to myself. The guys don’t even notice as I get up and go to the door, pushing it open and seeing the piles of guard uniforms on the bench, and the steam room behind it.
