Most of us do not know how much we are worth or what our value is. We take for granted our gifts and our talents. Some of us were taught not to take advantage of these gifts, but to simply give them to the Lord without anything in return. Many of us are surrounded by a "poverty mentality", without knowing our worth or protecting our assets, which are the gifts from God. He did not give us gifts to prostitute out, but to give Him glory and praise. God wants us to give thanks for all that He has given, and to recognize that the gifts are from Him. He wants each one of us to glorify His name and uplift Him in all that He has provided for us. He did not say to give ourselves the credit for His blessings.
Many of us put God’s name on our actions to justify the righteousness in using people and taking advantage of one another’s gifts and talents. If you bake delicious cookies and you donate them, then that is a gift. But, if you bake the cookies and put a "for sale" sign on them, they are no longer considered gifts. That’s exactly how some of our lives are being conducted. We are not being productive, because we are being taken advantage of each time our ‘for sale’ sign has no disclaimer.
Previously, we talked about how hard work produces plenty of food. Also keep in mind that your gifts and talents have value along with the hard work. It is hard work that crafts, molds, and develops the gifts from God. He worked so hard to create you and give you an abundance of talent. When we use someone, we think it is alright to take advantage of what God created in another. We think that it is alright for us to not value that person and his or her gifts. By not valuing that person, we are insulting God. God’s desire for all of us was to give us something we were good at in order to supply for a need. His intention was to give you value. If you do not consider yourself valuable, no one else will. It is up to you to do whatever is necessary to protect your assets.
