This is a very basic kit which just about captures the lines of the original ship but one which, although no doubt adequate for wargamers looking for a representation, will not satisfy the modelmaker with an eye for accuracy and detail.

Construction comes into the ‘snap-together’ category, and primary assembly is complete when a mere five parts—hull, forward hangar deck, after hangar deck, flight deck and island—are assembled, the remaining components comprising mainmast, three handling cranes, two ship’s boats and over twenty aircraft, most of the last being B-25s (some of which, according to the instructions, should be stowed in the hangar) and the rest representing an anonymous single-engine type. Surface detailing is confined to light relief on the flight deck (which has the wrong shape forward), and the kit is rounded off with an instruction diagram on the box which offers misleading advice regarding the paint scheme and a decal sheet with spurious markings.
