FLYING TOASTERS.

Genna watched, her head propped on the palm of her left hand and a little smile curving her lips, as silver-winged toasters flapped across her computer screen. They were just so cute. And she bet the one on the left was a girl, and the one flapping like mad behind her was a boy toaster and when they cruised off her screen they'd—She jerked her head up.

What the hell was she doing having sexual fantasies about her screen saver?

She glared at the phone. It was all his fault. Mr. Neptune, undersea god and wrecker of careers. If she could just pick up the phone and call him, just hear his voice, maybe meet for a drink or a movie, perhaps she could get through the day without wandering off into bizarre fantasies about flying toasters.

Which just went to prove that she wasn't emotionally unavailable at all. It was her lover who was unavailable – until Friday night.

She glanced at her Rolex. Tuesday, 3:05 p.m. and seventeen point two seconds. She wished for once it wasn't quite so accurate, since she was practically counting her days by the millisecond.

Would Friday never come?

Her body, which until now had dutifully done its job without any excess demands, had turned into a ravenous sex beast. She had never felt so aware of her body, of the way it moved, and how it reacted to different sensations.

It was as though she'd been frozen and now she was beginning to thaw. She found herself inhaling the aromas at the fruit and vegetable market, noting the different spices and textures on her tongue as she tasted her food. This morning she'd wasted at least a minute pausing to enjoy the sensation when she rubbed moisturizer into her skin.

Strange indeed to be challenged by sensory overload at the law offices of Donne, Green and Raddison. But even here she noticed the rich aroma of coffee when she entered the coffee room. Stopped to smell the standard arrangement of flowers in the reception area. She'd almost laughed at herself as she realized she'd literally stopped to smell the roses.

She shook her head and pulled up the file she was working on.

"Ah, Genna."

She glanced up to find Maureen in her doorway, holding a paper.

"Hi. What's up?"

"It's about this memo."

"The building with the broken-down heating system that cost our client two days of productivity when the building was closed? What's the problem?"

Maureen grinned at her. "I think we should move our offices there. Imagine having a climax-controlled office."

"Climax-controlled? I wrote that?" Genna clapped a hand to her mouth. "I meant climate. Climate-controlled."

Maureen dropped the memo on her desk. "Talk about your Freudian slip."

"Thanks for catching that," she said weakly. Oh, Lord, she was seeing sex everywhere.

She'd never thought of herself as particularly imaginative, but these days she felt she could write her own version of the Kama Sutra. With detailed drawings.

Shaking her head, as though she could rattle her brains back into some semblance of order, she grabbed a notebook and headed for Nick's office for an update on the Ross case.
