THE DOCTRINE OF JESUS CHRIST

“JESUS CHRIST IS NOT GOD”

In 1975, Wierwille wrote a book with the title Jesus Christ Is Not God. Enlarging upon material already published, it is a bold and acknowledged disagreement with orthodox Trinitarian doctrine. Two key points in Wierwille’s doctrine are the following:

Jesus was not coexistent with God, either in spirit or any other form. “God is eternal whereas Jesus was born. Matthew 1:18” (WS 26). On the declared basis that God was alone from the beginning, it follows that God is the “Word” of John 1:1. This verse is interpretatively corrected to read: “In the beginning was the Word [God] and the [revealed] Word was with God” (WW 28; brackets are Wierwille’s).

The created Word (Jesus Christ) was with God in His foreknowledge. God, being spirit, had to find means to manifest Himself “in concretion.” He gave the revealed Word so that man might be able to understand His communication. The revealed Word refers to both the written Word (the Bible) and the created Word (Jesus Christ). It is interesting to note that “we the chosen of God were called in Him in His foreknowledge,” in the same way that Jesus Christ was with God “in His foreknowledge” (WW 29).
