I was a ten-year-old kid listening to L.A. radio station KMET when I heard “Eruption.” It just blew me away. Then right into the Kinks’ “You Really Got Me.” Needless to say, I was hooked and pre-ordered the record at my local record store. Twelve years later I ended up working for Mike as his bass tech for five years.

They’ve always impressed me with how they could take another band’s song and make it their own. From Ed’s guitar playing, to Dave’s vocals and lyrics, to Michael Anthony’s background vocals, and Alex’s snare drum sound, when you heard two notes of a song you knew it was Van Halen! From 1978 to 1984 no one could hold a candle to Van Halen. I don’t think anyone’s ever come close!
