Laying a lighter colored fabric over a “hole” in a darker fabric can cause a distracting shadow.
Begin with largest number 1 piece. Note that this piece has extra fabric alongside all lines marked with red arrows. These edges will slide under a darker piece of fabric. Lay the number 2 piece over the lighter colored number 1 piece. The smaller pattern pieces have not yet been cut out of the freezer paper. Smaller, light-colored pieces are set on top of the darker foundation in the cheeks and chin area. The number 3 piece, which defines the shape of the ears and chin, is layered over the number 2 piece.
