6. Create your own Sunday tradition

Sunday is Italians’ day to be lazy and to indulge; after all, you only live once! One Sunday a month, make your own special pranzo della Domenica and invite your friends and family over to share the meal. Enjoy four different courses and drink plenty of wine along with them. See how long you can manage to sit at the table for, eating and laughing (my personal record is four and a half hours).

7. Have a real lunch break

We often rush through our working day, waiting for the clock to tell us when it’s time to go home. But what if we tried to make it a little more pleasant? A great way to do this is by taking a full lunch break, ideally around 60 minutes. I know this is not possible for everyone, but the effects, if you can do it, are amazing! When you leave your desk for a full lunch hour your brain will feel refreshed, and you won’t have that feeling of fogginess and exhaustion in the afternoon. The result? You will be able to accomplish more during the rest of the day. Stepping away from your desk also has physical benefits: when you gobble down a meal in front of your computer it doesn’t allow you to digest properly. But by taking your time and perhaps taking a short walk after your meal, you are allowing your system to process your food effectively. Think of your lunch break as an act of self-care and you will be rewarded by feeling happy, healthy and refreshed.
