WARTHOG SOW SOCIETY
Female warthogs like to spend time with each other and live in groups named sounders. A sounder is made of sows and their piglets. It may have up to 40 members. Just like you and your friends, sows like to talk to each other. They make all sorts of noises, including squeals and short, low noises from their throat. They also like to rest together and groom each other.
In comparison, boars arenât social. They leave their sounder once theyâve grown up. They then usually live alone.
STRANGE BUT TRUE!
Warthog sounders are happy to share their home area with other sounders. They donât guard their territory or chase others away.
