FLOWERS:

Flowering occurs late summer to early autumn. Long, arching stems will branch out from beneath the rosettes, producing an abundance of white flowers.

PROPAGATION:

You can easily propagate from leaf cuttings. For the best results grow your plants from seeds or stem cuttings.

It is immediately apparent why this plant was given the name Old Man Cactus: the wispy white hairs that protrude from every surface of Oreocereus trollii resemble the thinning hair of an elderly man. Originating in the arid mountainous areas of Argentina, the hairs lining the cactus protect it from both late-night winter frosts and the intense summer sunshine at high altitudes.
