TWO BLACK Range Rovers rolled to a stop in crowded Tahrir Square. It wasn’t long before onlookers amassed around the vehicles, unable to see past the dark, tinted windows. Ben exited the lead vehicle and opened the back passenger side door.

Faraq looked like Frankenstein’s monster from the ordeal of his interrogation. There was only fear left in the man, his shirt stained dark with perspiration, his pleading gaze fixed on Monk.

Monk didn’t care.

“I believe this is your stop,” Monk said calmly, but he maintained the level of menace in his voice. “You can get out of your own volition, or it’ll be at mine.”

Faraq didn’t move at first. His thoughts raced ahead, outlining the consequences of getting out of the vehicle. Monk refused to wait. With ferocious efficiency he chopped the thug across the throat. Faraq lurched forward, and with a kick, Monk sent him flying face forward out of the Range Rover to the street below.

“I suspect you won’t have to wait long for a ride,” Monk growled.

Ben got into the back with Monk, and the driver sped away. The remaining Range Rover followed suit.
