JENY’S SURPRISINGLY STRETCHY BIND-OFF

A bind-off method attributed to Jeny Staiman closely related to the older yarnover bind-off method. It works well when binding off the cuff of toe-up socks or other times a stretchy bind-off is needed.

The basic method is that you work a yarnover before each stitch and pull the yarnover over the stitch once it’s been worked.

If the stitch to be bound off is a knit stitch, work a backward yo (bring the yarn to the front over top of the needle). Knit the stitch and pull the yarnover over the stitch. If the stitch to be bound off is a purl stitch, work a standard yarnover. Purl the next stitch and pull the yarnover over the stitch.

Work across as per a standard bind-off, adding the yarnover to each stitch.
