Chapter Seven

Wylder

Ding. Ding. Seconds pass. Ding. Ding.

What in the hell is that? My notification doesn’t sound like that. I open my eyes. Ring. Ring.

Shit. Hazel. That’s got to be her phone. I sit up in the bed, letting the sheet fall to my waist. Where did she go? The room is empty.

As the sun streaks across the bed from the partially opened slates of the blind, I groan and stretch. Then, I smile as image after image of the night before clicks through my head like an old animation reel. The living room. The striptease. The orgasms. The bedroom.

The TV on the dresser is tipped over, and the top two drawers are half-open. It did happen. It doesn’t matter whether the sex was on the sofa, against the wall, or on the bed. It was phenomenal.

Water runs down the pipes from the adjacent room. Bathroom. She hasn’t disappeared. I yawn and move my head from side to side, stretching the muscles. What should we do with the few hours I have before I need to go to work?

Stupid question. More of the same. I can’t get enough of her.

Ding. Ding. I glance at the offending intrusion to our blissful hideaway and wish there was nothing outside of us. The door cracks open, revealing a naked Hazel. A gorgeous naked Hazel. My cock twitches his approval of her clothing choice. Her hair flows around her head in waves, trailing down her back. “Your cellphone rang.”

“Oh, sorry.” She rushes to her side of the bed. Her side. That sounds so good. I’ve yearned to be a part of a couple’s relationship with her for years. I want it all. Movie nights. Cooking breakfast together. All night sex marathons. Board games. Naked board games. Naked Twister. Hey, I’m a guy. Most of my ideas are going to end in us being naked.

“I’ll get it.” She grabs the phone off the end table and frowns. My heart skips a beat as reality barges its way inside our cocoon. When it’s just the two of us, everything feels right, but what does it look like when other people intrude?

She pokes her finger on the screen as she rests on the bed. Her eyes scan back and forth as she reads the messages. She glances over at me with a guilty expression on her face and runs a hand through her hair.

Shit. Does she have a date with someone else that she’s forgotten? It would serve me right after jumping so far ahead that I’m ready to buy the monogram napkins for the wedding.

“It’s my sister. She’s reminding me of a lunch date I promised to go to today.”

“Yeah?” I nod, grab my jeans off the nightstand, and stand. “I should go.” As much as I’d like to stay, she’s got other things to do. I step into the jeans and haul them up my legs, leaving them open at the waist.

“You’re leaving?”

“I should go home.” I fasten the opening, dragging up the zipper as she clutches a pillow to her chest.
