“Yas, it’s Cam.”

He was calm but I knew him well enough to know he was angry. “What’s up?”

We had been getting along much better since he’d come to the house when I nearly overdosed. We were talking with a lot less fighting. Reluctantly, I was sitting back watching him and Ayana get closer. I hoped to be more of a friend, and when the rocks came tumbling down, I would be there to console him. My new strategy seemed to have improved our relationship.

“You need help.”

I wasn’t sure if that was a question or a comment. So I said, “What do you mean?”

“You need to start seeing someone again about your anxiety.”

“I didn’t need to go when you made me go.”

“If you didn’t need to go then, you definitely need to go now.”

“Where is this shit coming from? Your girlfriend?”

“Yas, I’m real concerned about your mental stability.”

“Cam, go somewhere with that!”

Little did he know I had already made an appointment. I had known I had to do it when I almost killed Caron and myself. I didn’t like hearing it come from him though.

“Honestly.” He continued speaking to me like he was talking to a crazy person. “The shit you pulled with the car and the condo, it’s just unacceptable. From now on, we need to meet at the police station when I drop Caron off.”

I couldn’t believe my ears. I excused myself from my client and went into the break room. “That bitch got you hemmed up like that? Now you scared to be around me? What kind of shit is that?”

“These stunts you been pulling are beyond reason anymore and to prevent me from doing something I have no business doing to you, let’s meet in front of witnesses.”

“You’re so caught up with this chick that she got you convinced that I’m doing something to her?”

“I’ve seen it for myself. Yasmin, only you know what’s going on in your head. Only you know why you’re doing this stuff.”

“Cam, I will admit that I’ve blasted her on blogs. I’ll admit that I had people call in to the show to challenge her, but this car and condo shit is not me.”

I continued to dispute and he kept accusing. It was confusing me why he’d think I would do this, after we’d been getting along so well. This was frustrating for me. Maybe this crazy chick was making up shit to draw Cam closer to her.
