What was crazy was that I knew even though he hadn't called; I knew he would reach out somehow. If he didn't, that meant what he said was a lie. But he couldn't have been lying because I felt the same way he did. Not at the moment but after a few days, it starts to get bad. The longing grew, and it's like a craving that cannot be contained.

What was about it with writers and the long, drawn out plots that last over several seasons or book series?

Ugh.

There was some rustling outside, but I ignored it since the wind shield had picked up when the warm sun had settled. There was a knock on the door which put me on alert since I rarely ever had visitors.

When I opened the door, I was shocked to see that woman who was with Sage when I went to his house.

“How many I help you?” I asked.

“Dear, it's how I can help you. May I come in?” She raised an eyebrow at me.

“I don’t know you, so I’d rather you state the reason why you are at my door.” I raised another eyebrow.

She nodded her head. “Fair enough. You’re the mate for Wesley, okay? That’s why you have these strange feelings and feel the connection that is unexplainable. You can spare yourself the heartache by simply going to him. Be with him. He needs you now more than ever. He’s vulnerable without ...”

“Did he put you up to this?” I cut her off. “What the hell is going on here?”

“No, he doesn’t even know I’m here. I’m telling you this because he’s suspected to be in danger and he needs his strength. You’re that for him.”

Okay, if she was not trying to add pressure, she was doing a horrible job at it.

“Listen, I’m not sure what you are attempting to do, but I won’t be with someone just because you say so or because of this,” I waved my hands in the air, “Some mystical need.”

She put a hand on her hip and said, “No, you listen. You are his mate. That means you are meant to be together and guess what darling, you don’t have to believe a word I’m saying. When you find your arse in the hospital again because you are both a part, remember what I said. Believe me; he’s sorry for whatever he did. Sage was always the hot-headed one out of the bunch.”

The woman smiled at me again and continued, “Look, I get it. Believe me, to be a mate or even a Navorite woman, you must have spunk, but the one thing we aren’t, is stupid. That man adores you. He does dumb things, but you’re still mated.”

I nodded my head because not only did I not want to hear what she had to say, I also didn’t want to admit defeat.
