When I read this research, I went through my memories of relationships and realized that this finding did ring personally true. I can think of several times in my career when I met a brilliant person who seemed to know so much, yet I did not trust the person and therefore couldn’t form any real and lasting relationship with them. I also worked with novice teachers who were still forming their expertise as teachers, yet I trusted them completely, and these were collaborative experiences where I thrived.
