Chapter 10

They were in New York and the limo was waiting for them. They drove a longtime and then she seen the mansion all lit up. “Alex it is beautiful.” “Thanks when I got a divorce I need something of my own.”

“Well it is definitely amazing.” He led her to the door and escorted her to guest room and she had all her stuff in. He gave her a tour. He went to the kitchen and fixed them a whipped coffee with Vanilla. They laughed and talked before he seen her yarning. He walked over and kissed her. They stood there and she was finally relaxing. He led her to guest room and kissed her goodnight and shut the door. He went to his office and opened the safe and was looking through the papers and copied what Joan needed. He locked the safe back up.

Summer’s sleep was interrupted by her phone ringing again. “Hello.”

“Mom sorry to wake you dad wants to talk to you.”

“I talked to him.”

“Okay go back to sleep.” Eb laughed.

Alex went and showered and he kept telling himself take it slow, he rushed and fell in love with Joan. He was going to bed. He was dreaming and Summer was wife and they had kids. He jumped up and flicked on light. He was not ready for that dream.

The next morning he had breakfast ready when she came in. He told her they had to go out to give someone some papers. She wanted to see New York the fast life again. He would be her personal tour guide. They left and they toured downtown and then he took her all kinds of places. He text Joan he was having Lunch at Bobby’s. They were seated and then someone tapped her on her shoulder. “Howard.” She hugged him.

“You look great honey.” Howard looked across the table and nodded Alex.

“Nice to see you Howard.” Alex stood.

Howard told her take care and left. They had lunch and then a wanna be black Barbie comes in and approached Alex. He handed her the papers. She looked at him. “Miss Harris meet Joan.” They both looked at each other. Summer nodded and kept eating her desert later she said. “I take it she is the ex.”

Alex nodded. They continued their tour and they ended up at a Broadway show that afternoon. Then he took her to a late tour of Statue of Liberty. They had a nice day. Then her phone rang “Hello?”

“Summer can we talk?”

“I’m pretty busy I will call you back.”

Alex looked at her and her whole mood changed after that call. He grabbed her “Ex?” She nodded. Alex explained it’s been longer for him so he was holding up better. He comforted her and they continued their night having fun. They had been in New York for four days and he was the perfect gentleman. She was packing when her phone rang again “Hello?”

“Summer you never did call me back.”

“I’m not home yet.” She hung up. They were headed back to Atlanta.
