3. Start creating the short ribbons. Take one of the short leather pieces and thread a 50mm eye pin through the first hole from front to back. Then, add a spring bead and bring the eye pin through the second hole from back to front.

4. Finish creating the short ribbons. Continue weaving the eye pin in and out of the holes in the leather, adding a bead after each one. Make a simple loop (see page 12) at the end of the eye pin to hold the leather in place. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 with the other short leather piece to create a second ribbon. Set the completed short ribbons aside.

5. Create the long ribbon. Take one of the long strips of leather (set the other piece aside for another project) and mark 3/8” (1cm) from one end, centering the mark on the width of the leather. Then, starting at the 3/8” (1cm) mark, measure and mark at 13/16” (2cm) intervals along the length of the leather. Punch a hole at each mark as before. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 to form a long ribbon from the leather, using the 70mm eye pin.

6. String the beads. Take five eye pins and string cones on three of them and hearts on two of them. Turn simple loops (see page 12) at the ends of the eye pins. String the bead cap and remaining heart on a head pin. String the teardrop beads on the remaining head pins. Turn simple loops (see page 12) on each beaded head pin.

7. Wrap the oval beads. Cut two 16” (40cm) lengths of silver wire. Follow the instructions on pages 16–17 to wrap the tops of the oval beads with the wire.
