HAWTHORN BERRY

(Crataegnus oxyacantha)

This herb is included because it nurtures a strong heart—the power center of the body. Native Americans used hawthorn berry to treat a variety of ailments, including female problems and wounds, as well as for a heart tonic. It was also eaten as a food. Today it is thought to dilate the coronary blood vessels enough to help build up the wall of the heart muscle. It also tones muscle tissue in other areas of the body. The herb is readily available in health food and grocery stores. Try it for relief from emotional wounding of the heart and grieving. Use in capsule or tincture form. The regular dosage is two capsules twice a day, or one dropperful of hawthorn tincture once or twice a day.
