Chapter 9

Guilt tore at Zachary’s stomach. What had he done? Marley hated him. He had to make things right. Why hadn’t he thought she would react this way? How could he make things better when she didn’t even want him around her?

“Cole, what do I do?” Zachary pleaded to his best friend.

Normally, he would never ask anyone’s advice, but he trusted Cole.

Plus, this concerned Marley. This wasn’t about him anymore. They were going to have a child together. He loved her. Never had Zachary been so lost.

“Go to her somewhere where she’s comfortable.” Cole nodded to the third row where Marley lay sleeping.

Zachary smiled and nodded. “You’re right, thanks. I knew I could count on you.”

It took some maneuvering for Zachary to finally get comfortable in the small seat, but he managed after folding his legs at odd angles.

Pushing everything from his mind, he began to focus on their connection. Around the edges of the blackness he felt the pull on his insides that would allow him to leave his body. A vision of Marley’s face flashed before him and he knew he had it. Now it was up to him to make things right.
