Chapter 18

Aubrey

I can’t believe I just did that. I just masturbated in my boss’s shower. There has to be something wrong with me because every damn time he tells me what to do it goes straight to my core, and my mouth tells him off. I am a walking contradiction. The meeting is in ten minutes, and I can still feel the flush on my face. I use the mirror from my makeup bag and try to assess the damage. Luckily it feels warmer than it looks. I use a little foundation to calm the redness and add some red lipstick to go with my dress.

I arrive for the meeting a few minutes early. This is a project update where everyone comes together to talk about what they are doing and where they are in the process. I finally have things to report now that I have my blueprints, thanks to Wolf. I sit next to Harper as the rest of the staff starts to come in. Wolf is the last to arrive and just my luck the last free seat is right next to me. He looks at me and maintains eye contact as he makes his way around the room to where I am sitting. He sits down and shifts his chair a little closer to mine. “Ms. Bishop.”

I nod and say, “Mr. Lawson.” My knees part slightly, and the side of my leg touches his. The contact with him, so soon after the event in his shower makes me ready to go again.

Nate starts the meeting off with some updates on the Wiscasset project. There were permit issues, but they are finally resolved. Jack is next with details about the Clinton site. Everything is smooth sailing, and they are looking to come in both under budget and finish a week early. The table starts to get a little loud as people are showing excitement about Jack’s news.

“That is awesome, Jack, congrats,” I say. Jack winks at me and Wolf stiffens in his chair. He leans back in an angry huff causing the chair to shift closer to me. Our thighs are completely touching now. The signs of his jealousy over my friendship with Jack makes me laugh but I kind of feel for him.

I rest my hand on my thigh under the table and my fingers accidentally brush his leg. Before I can pull my hand back, his hand swiftly slides down over mine and he laces our fingers together. My breath hitches and I feel that tug in my stomach again. Luckily no one around the table notices as Rusty keeps the congratulations going by scheming how he can steal Jack’s crew for another build. I am the last to speak. I flex my hand and he releases my fingers but his empty hand comes to rest on my thigh.

“The Autism Hub portion of the Thrive contract is officially underway. We were able to obtain the blueprints from Ledger Hayes and I put some pressure on the Chicago zoning committee.
