1. Cut cardboard

Cut the four pieces of corrugated cardboard to 6" × 6" (15cm × 15cm) using scissors or a utility knife. Tear the top layer of paper off the cardboard so it reveals pieces of the middle, ridged layer.

2. Punch holes and insert ribbon

Punch four evenly spaced holes down the left edge of one piece of cardboard. Use these holes as a guide to punch holes in the other pages. Stack the pages, then thread a piece of ribbon through each hole, leaving the pieces untied.

3. Tie twig to spine

Align the twig along the spine of the album. Take the piece of ribbon in the top hole. Wrap the left side of the ribbon over the stick then under and back to the left side. Wrap the right side over and under and back out to the right side. Tie the sides together. Repeat to bind the twig to the other three holes.

4. Paint cardboard pages

Randomly brush different colors of paint across each page to give it a funky, rough-and-tumble look.
