Pfft, this isn't going to be easy. He won't be happy, and neither am I. It's only seven o'clock, and since the man seems to not have any social life, I'm pretty sure he will phone me up to express his displeasure as soon as I hit send on this.

Before writing anything further, I pause, head in hands, and try to really think. The fifty per cent advance on this would really come in handy, fifty per cent more upon completion even more so. But he won't buy in if I mess up the meeting; I'm sure someone else has got a bid in too.

While I'm still deciding what to do, my inbox flashes in bold to alert me of a new email. I may as well check what it is.

The subject line, 'Restaurant project' instantly grabs my attention. But it's not from Nightmare Client, but instead a vaguely familiar other name: Callum Byrne. I could bet that I've heard this name somewhere, but I can't place him.

Dear Ms. Aldwell,

A dear friend of mine, Jack Cleary has referred me to you for an upcoming project. Much like him, I'm also planning to launch a new chain of gourmet restaurants, to coincide with the new season of my show on Good Food TV — Fuck, so that's where I've heard that name before!
