PENNSYLVANIA
Pennsylvania is filled with rich history of the United States, including Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. There are mountains, farmland, small and big cities, all available to Hollywood, but when most people think of Pennsylvania and movies, most likely they are thinking of the iconic scene in the film Rocky. So many other films have been shot here as well, including Dressed to Kill (1980), Trading Places (1983), Philadelphia (1993), and Twelve Monkeys (1995).
Statue Alert! Rocky
Put your arms over your head, take a deep breath, and start running up the 72 stone steps that are located outside the entrance of the Philadelphia Museum of Art in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Can you hear “Gonna Fly Now” playing somewhere? Take those steps two at a time if you want because you’re making the same climb that Rocky Balboa made in Rocky. Sylvester Stallone portrayed the small-time boxer who gets a rare chance to fight the heavyweight champ Apollo Creed in the 1976 movie that received 10 Oscar nominations in nine categories at the 49th Academy Awards, winning Best Picture. The film also starred Burgess Meredith (Mickey), Talia Shire (Adrian), and Carl Weathers (Apollo).
Once you’re done recreating the iconic stairs scene, take out your camera and get a selfie with the man himself. There is a bronze statue of Rocky located at the bottom right of the steps.
