•See general directions for cutting, piecing, and pressing.
•Make the quantity of blocks listed using 1½˝-wide strips for the logs.
•For stripped triangles, cut 18 strips 1½˝ and 6 strips 1⅝˝. Sew 3 sets of 6 strips 1½˝ with 1⅝˝ on both sides. From the selvage end to the middle of the strip set, press the seams all one way, then the opposite way from the middle to the other selvage end. This produces seams that oppose.
•From the strip sets, cut 8¾˝ triangles. Trim off ¼˝ from the bottom of each triangle to make 8½˝ triangles. The top and bottom strips will be narrower than the other strips.
•Lay out the blocks and setting triangles into 4 left (left half of the iris) and 4 right vertical rows.
•Begin sewing at the bottom for the lefts and at the top for the rights if you are following the pressing directions.
•Sew the rows together and add borders as desired.
