Shy and Timid

It is not unusual for people with great ideas to feel uncomfortable sharing them in a big group. Rather than miss out on their valuable input, encourage quieter members to participate by saying:

“I haven't heard much from you this afternoon. Is there anything you'd like to add?”

Turn Off Your Screens

It's not unusual in meetings to have attendees who look at their phones reading emails, texts, and the like. While this is often an indication of total boredom, it's also a bad habit that is now considered normal. To maintain focus and participation in your meetings, try something radical. Ask everyone (politely) to put their screens away so that you can move through the meeting quickly and end early. What a concept!
