Levi

“I like to drive up here when I need to think.” I shared as we drove down a winding road in the middle of the woods behind my family’s farm.

“Are we still on your property?” Her head moved from side to side taking in the surroundings.

“Just at the edge.” I slowed the truck down and kissed her temple. “If I had my way, I’d build my log cabin out here.”

“That would be amazing.” She slid toward the passenger side door.

“Where are you going?” I grabbed her hand and opened my door. “Come here.” I held out my hands for her to take.

“Such a gentleman.” She took my hands and hopped down out of the truck.

“There’s a creek just beyond those trees.” I walked out into the clearing. It was still daylight but the shade from the sun made it hard to see all the features of the area. “It’s about a half-acre here in this open area. It’s perfect for a log cabin and maybe another building.”

“And over there you could have beehives.” She pointed to a patch of trees with a U shape clearing. “They could sit perfectly in their very own spot.”

“I didn’t know there would be bees in my future?” I nuzzled my nose against her crook of her neck and inhaled her scent of strawberries and basil.

“They are really beneficial. Just imagine what they could do for your crops.” She rubbed her hand back and forth on my chest. “And honey.” She moaned.

“All very fine points.” I dragged my tongue up the side of her neck. “Plus, I do love the taste of honey.” I continued to nip and suck at her neck and behind her ear.

“Levi,” she whispered and fisted her hands in my hair. I didn’t respond at first. “Levi,” she said a little louder.

I lifted my head to look into her beautiful blue eyes. “Too fast?”

“No,” she said and grabbed my hand. “I’m tired of waiting.”

There was a blanket behind the seat, so I quickly went over and grabbed it. “No one comes out here.”

“You do.” She teased.

“I promise we’re alone.” I placed the blanket on the bed of the truck. “Well, there could be a few deer watching but they won’t tell a soul.” I wrapped my hands around her waist and helped her up. “Unless you scream loud, then someone may come out and investigate.” I hopped up and crawled closer to her. Suddenly, the realization of what we were doing slammed into me. There were many nights where I woke up from a dream that included Livy. To have them all finally become reality seemed surreal.

“What are you thinking about?” She climbed onto my lap and rested her head on my chest.

“How I can’t believe you’re really in my arms.” I wrapped my arms around her body. “I don’t know why I waited so long to tell you the truth.”

She lifted her head. “Your family is like my second family. Did it fell weird?”

“It doesn’t now?” I chuckled and brushed a strand of hair away from her eye.
