1. Separate out a top section of hair with your comb, as for the Double Bun, here. Tie the lower part of your hair out of the way.
2. Divide the top section into three equal strands.
3. As for a regular braid, take one outer strand into the middle, then repeat with the other outer strand. But here, each strand should pass under and up into the center to create a raised braid.
4. For the next round, incorporate a small portion of hair from one side of your head into the outer strand on that side before taking it under and up. Do the same with the outer strand on the other side. Then continue working back in this way. Work slowly and carefully.
5. When you reach the end of the parted section, the hard bit is over! Stop braiding, twirl the remaining hair into a tight knot, and secure it with a hair tie. Release the bottom section of hair.
