Chapter 14

Alana sat on the bed, the covers wrapped around her as she listened to the sound of the shower from the bathroom. Imagining the water sliding down Jonah’s incredible body made her want to jump from under the covers, just so she could join him. The sight of his nakedness had thrilled her and she couldn’t wait to get him back into bed, so she could run her hands all over his delicious skin. It made her skin tingle to think that she’d found someone who had awakened those feelings inside her. She was amazed at how forgiving he’d been, and how she trusted him with her heart. She’d never considered being close to anyone, but now everything was different.

Staring around the room, Alana was impressed with the luscious décor. The deep chestnut-colored floor seemed to shine, reflecting the large rotating fan that hung from the ceiling and the chestnut furniture matched the skirting and architrave. Two pale, cream-colored chairs sat in front of the long slatted blinds that covered the windows and matched the color of the walls perfectly. It was so warm and relaxing as she remembered what Jonah had said. Their room. She felt elation soar through her heart.

A pang of guilt hit her. She felt harrowed at feeling such happiness when her sister was in danger because of her. She knew The Order was working on trying to locate her but was still terrified of Harvey’s retribution for her leaving.

Closing her eyes, she listened as Jonah turned off the shower. The seconds ticked by as she heard him dry himself and walk back into the room. She didn’t want him to see the worry on her face. Opening her eyes, she stared at him as he smiled gently. He’d wrapped the towel around his waist and the muscles of his defined abs glistened as her eyes traveled over his stunning body. His beautifully tanned skin glowed from the heat of the water and his hair hung loosely, soaked, but still a remarkable golden color.

“You okay, beautiful?” Jonah asked. He could see the torment in her face, no matter how hard she tried to hide it.

Alana smiled. She couldn’t keep anything from him so what was the use in trying? “I’m worried about my sister. What if we can’t find her?”

“We’ll find her. Lucian and Tobias are searching, and I’m going to go down to the security room and help. I promise we’ll find her and make sure Harvey pays for what he’s done to you both,” Jonah assured her as he walked over to the bed and sat down next to her.

Jonah leaned forward and took Alana’s hand, placing a gentle kiss on her soft skin before sitting, facing her. The necklace she wore shone brightly from the rays of sunlight through the slatted blinds and he leaned forward, running his finger over the smooth surface of the bright yellow diamonds.

“That’s beautiful.”

“It was my Grandmother’s. She left it to me when she died. It’s the only thing I have left of my bloodline.
