Chapter Six

Rogue closed the door and leaned against the cold stone wall hoping that Jackson would come after him. Long minutes passed without a sound coming from within. No doubt, Jackson had fallen asleep and would be out for some time. His cool down cuddle hadn’t gone to plan and had left him empty and with the familiar loneliness that had haunted him for a long time. Fuck, he wanted the connection, the afterglow he craved with his pup after a scene. He’d longed to hold Jackson trembling and satisfied in his arms for so long. What will it take to get you back? Regret weighed heavy on his shoulders as he pushed away and straightened. He’d offered Jackson an olive branch and been rejected. Now he had a manager to skin and needed to speak with Shayd. His brother had concocted this disaster and now he would have to help him fix things with Jackson.

He pulled his phone out of his back pocket and checked the blocked number listing. Sure enough, he found Jackson’s number. His boy had told him the truth and no wonder he was hurt—no damaged—but maybe not beyond repair. Taking the stairs to the foyer, he slipped inside the door to Rhys’s office and found him sprawled in a chair at his desk watching TV. “Hey, can I have a word, man?”

Rhys straightened and grinned his eyes sparkling with mischief.

“So how did it go? Did you tame that wild boy?”

Does everyone know my fucking business? He dropped into a chair and shrugged. “Nope and it went fine up to the cool down, but I’m not here to discuss my artwork. I want to know what happened to Jackson during my absence.”

Rhys raised one dark eyebrow.

“If you want more than about six month’s history, you are asking the wrong guy. I didn’t know Jackson existed until he signed up here a week after I met Joel.” He shrugged. “Reef told me once that Jackson would never set foot in Depravity because of you. So I’m guessing your sordid affair happened elsewhere.” He opened his desk drawer, took out a bottle of bourbon and filled two glasses. “What happened? I’m his unofficial protector at the moment, in case you didn’t know.”

“I had intended asking him to marry me, but our relationship fucked up during my tour with Alpha Rock in the UK.” He took the offered drink. “Has he had many Doms since he joined Depravity?”

“Oh yeah, bottom ass on the pile.” Rhys lifted his drink as if to toast him. “You really did a number on that boy to make him crash and burn like that.” He sipped his drink. “You do know he signed a contract with me, cart blanche? I wanted to take him straight to hell and he would have let me, he is an arrogant SOB.”

Rogue swallowed the drink in one gulp and placed the glass on the table. “Yeah, that is something I like about him. The smart mouth makes him all the better in the dungeon.
