Sit straight in your chair with your spine long. With your hands on your thighs interlace your fingers and slowly raise your arms to the ceiling. End up with your spine long, your arms straight and your palms facing upwards. Let your shoulders be soft and as you breathe in extend your spine and stretch your arms further towards the ceiling. Relax a little as you breathe out. Repeat six or seven times.

Extended triangle
This pose will stretch waist, hips and shoulders and give you a strong sense of balance, which is what yoga is all about. Place your feet a legâs length apart with your feet parallel and your arms straight out and to the side. Turn your right foot 90 degrees so that it points in the same direction as your right arm. Breathe out and stretch your right side so that your right hand can hold your right ankle or toes. Breathe in and raise your left arms so that your fingers point at the ceiling and your two arms form a straight line. Turn your head to the left so that you are looking up at the ceiling. Hold for half a minute, breathing gently, and then slowly uncurl. Repeat on your left side.
