INFLUENZA

The annual vaccine protects against circulating strains and is recommended for travellers every year.

MEASLES

Measles starts a bit like a cold, and then appears to get worse, and a fever develops. At about the third or fourth day, a rash appears on the skin, starting on the face and moving down. The rash is red, raised and tends to conglomerate together. It starts to fade after about five days. You can get ear and chest infections with measles, and also diarrhoea. Occasionally, severe complications (affecting the brain) can occur, which is why you should seek medical advice if you think you may have measles. Although it’s often thought of as a childhood illness, measles can occur in adults and tends to be much more severe when it does.
