I had some good news. Josh came through with my rejection. As you can see, it is a lot better than the last one I got from my last church, and why I’m proud to call Josh my pastor and friend.

Dear Michael Bolstler,

You asked me to read your book and consider its claims. I have read through substantial bits of it, but have not yet completed it. Since you desire a concrete and straightforward response to your claims, I will do so on the basis of the parts which I have read. Thankfully, what I have read — along with our ongoing discussions — has been clear enough for me to respond.

Since you have asked for outright rejection at points which I determine are false, I will do so frankly. This style will not communicate well my sincere affection for you but I shall do so based on your request.

As it relates to your claim that a Satan is when God lies via His Holy Spirit, I reject it. Jesus and the rest of the writers of the NT consider Satan/the devil as a personal being distinct from God. I also flatly reject your claim that if a person believes in such a being (or beings) that this constitutes some form of worship of that being (or beings). Further, I reject the view that God lies to people.

As it relates to your claim that the return of Jesus depends on human response, I reject it. The unilateral testimony of the New Testament and of the historic and orthodox creeds (e.g. Nicene and Apostles) is that Jesus Christ will certainly return again, regardless of human activity and response.

As it relates to your claim that you are 33.4% (or any percent) Messiah, I reject it. There is only one Messiah (a person, not a process) as defined by the Bible, and that is Jesus (100%). I regard your novel claim that you (archangel Michael), God the Father, and Jesus all constitute proportions of the Messiah (as a process) as antithetical to Scripture, and so reject it.

As it relates to your claim that God adopted a son using mathematics instead of impregnating women in bible stories, I reject it. On the basis of the biblical record and the historic creeds I believe in the virgin birth.

As it relates to your claim that God is possible and not certain and dependant on us, I reject it. Not only does the biblical narrative contradict this, so do the creeds. On top of this, I reject the claim on logical and philosophical grounds. If God exists, God is a necessary being not contingent on human agency.

As it relates to your claim that your request for a trial is just so logical and non-nonsensical that only divine intervention could have kept it from happening for this long, I reject it. I believe the opposite. There is no mechanism for a comparative religious or political blasphemy trial of the sort you desire (at least in Canada).
